Let me just start by saying we go all out here for the 4th of July. Definitely one of the best holidays I have ever had because it was so crazy unique. Prepare your self for an overwhelming amount of photos.
The views here 😍 this was on our two hour drive to Ingapirca.
And here are the ancient ruins. To build their temple you see in the top right, they didn't use anything but stone. No cement or nothin. Crazy. And still standing today even though they were built 800 years after Christs death.
All the girls😀 the old girls go home Monday... Gonna be super sad 😢
Beth (in the red) REALLY wanted to be patriotic for the 4th so she convinced us to make flower crowns that were red, white, and blue. We looked like an Old Navy ad but it was super fun cuz we went photo crazy.
Awkward picture but we ate lunch here and it was gorgeous. Picnic, little lake, big mountains, ladies walking to town in traditional Ecuadorean outfits, cows grazing on the hill sides... Yowza. Amazing.
This is the Incan head. Literally a face naturally in a mountain. So cool.
A little corn to finish off the day (I feel like I am in Nacho Libre... I ate corn on the country side and I work with nuns and the kids always complain about wanting some salad or something)
P.s. This is Cosy. Everyone thinks we are sisters... She has traveled the world as an ice skater and goes to BYU... so I'm ok with her being my new sis 😄
Biblián’s Church: El Santuario de la Virgen del Rocío- ( the sanctuary of the virgen) a cathedral built in the rocks. So beautiful. Definitely the best part of the day. Perched on the side of a mountain overlooking the city of Azogues. The mountains were used as part of the walls inside the cathedral. I wish we could have taken photos inside. Art history has helped me gain so much respect for places like this. The spirit was so strong and all of us girls just sat inside in silence. Eventually a man came up to us and told us we should sing because the acoustics were awesome... So we did. We all sang God be with you till we meet again. It rang throughout the cathedral and by the end, half the girls were in tears. It was a special moment we will all share forever.
Ended the day with a BBQ and a bonfire. So much fun. I feel so blessed to be getting to know and spend time with these wonderful girls. Can't believe some are leaving in 2 days. Life is good. Happy 4th 🇺🇸😀
